Entertainment Alert: went to see The Dark Knight, Wall-E and Mamma Mia this weekend. Enjoyed all three!

Mamma Mia, though, I believe is only for ABBA fans. I can see how it could fall flat if you aren't a solid ABBA fan. But, I thought it was so much fun.

The Dark Knight was great! However, I felt like I saw two movies in one.

D, saw what you were talking about in regard to Morgan. I cracked up. But I don't think the audience paid attention to it.

I never thought I would see th my Francis L. Holland Blog in Black Enterprise Magazine, because I really believed that being noted in Black Enterprise was for Black people who are doing a LOT more than I'm doing.

However, the idea of Black bloggers being disrespected and cut out of any activities at the Democratic National Convention has really hit a nerve with Black America. We Black bloggers are perhaps to modest to realize that as newspapers across the country are cutting back on journalists, we really are the eyes and ears of Black America and the world on issues that are crucial to the Diaspora. So, even if we as Black bloggers are reluctant to fight to the death to be treated equally, our audiences are calling us "new media" and they don't want Black people left out. I think that's why the issue of Jim Crow segregation at the DNC's two separate blog pools continues to receive the attention of Black and white media.

Meanwhile, I've wrtten today at my blog today that "men's vascocongestion [otherwise known as blue balls in white people] is similar in intensity to the pain women feel when the are punched in the breasts. So, how do teenagers, men and women deal with this physiological reality in the context of our relationships. Should women ignore it, intentionally exacerbate it, or help men to problem solve about it?

OT: Black woman found with her uterus cut out in the home of another black woman.

Looks like womb jealousy...the black woman claimed the dead woman's child as her own.

Sometimes, I don't know where we are going when I see stuff like this.

Crimes like that make me sick. We had a horrendous one last year where a woman murdered her friend for her fetus, then took the woman's living toddlers, killed them and stuffed them in the washer and dryer. Then this week we had a man gun down his wife at a mall near my home because they were getting a divorce and she's sought a restraining order against him. He slashed her car tires, so she couldn't escape then tracked her down in the mall, trapped her, killed her, then himself.

In both cases the crimes involved black people. But this really isn't a race issue. It's a sickness of the human condition issue. For all women, regardless of race, if you're pregnant your number one killer is not childbirth complications, but homicide. You're more likely to be killed by a man close to you, the child's father or a crazed woman, than the things that traditionally killed women while pregnant.

I don't understand the sick individuals who do these sorts of crimes. Why can't you just kill yourself, why do you have to kill your wife? Why do you have to cut a child from another woman's womb and leave her to die? What the hell is wrong with people? It' just makes me angry because it's a pointless waste out of the acts of selfish, sick people.

Here in the SF Bay Area within a couple of months last year we saw two cases where pregnant women squatted and gave birth on the sidewalk, left their infants on the street and walked off... it took me days to wrap my head around that one... then we have the young woman who drove to SF and threw her three children in the bay. Their bodies were never found. As you stated, Black Snob, these are not race issues, although these all involved black folks, but rather speak to the "sickness of the human condition."

Crimes which so distort human nature, the killing of woman for a fetus, the giving of birth on a sidewalk, murdering your own children ... those things which keep you awake at night if you allow it, are not simply issues of crime. in California public mental health services are consistently on the chopping block, and many, if not most of our homeless suffer from varying degrees of mental illness. The crimes discussed here are the acts of people who have fallen through the cracks of a severely limited mental health system. The reason their crimes are so horrifying is that they are not crimes engendered by poverty, greed or even passion -- those crimes we can get a handle on... The crimes spoken of here come from the depths of such a distorted mind and spirit that we are left speechless, confused, and horrified.

I left child welfare after a number of years, when I found I could no longer live with the knowledge of what people do to children. Images invaded my sleep, but I didn't reach the end until I began to see the very children we had "saved" from their families, come back into the system with their own children. Clearly our system is as broken as the families we are supposed to serve. Almost without fail, the women involved in these crimes have had some involvement with the "system." And the system failed. Our society is ill, and in denial of that illness. It is an illness of the mind and spirit, and as is the case whenever there is an epidemic, the most vulnerable suffer the most... and nowhere is that more graphically demonstrated than in the mind-numbing thought that a woman would butcher another woman for her child.

Andrea Mitchell seemed upset that the press hasn't been allowed to interview Barack yet.

So far, he's only given interviews to military reporters.

She said she's never seen anything like it.

I wonder why she wouldn't let herself reveal that that's because his security won't allow it?

People want to talk about the "whiners" in this election, it is the press hands down. I have never seen such ridiculousness out in display like this. They whined about how Obama didn't let them tag along to his secret meeting with Hillary, (so they could create a media circus out of it,) they whined that he wouldn't let them attend other events or fundraisers, and now they are whining about this.

I would have a lot more sympathy for them if they were doing their job, but they are not. The stories that have come out discussing both Obama and McCain have been extremely weak, and poorly researched. Maybe instead of whining, people should be brushing up on some journalism classes.

Last week, however, it became apparent neither would appear, Obama because of his foreign travel and McCain because of what his campaign said was a long-standing agreement to speak at Lance Armstrong's "Town Hall on Cancer."

He is still on duty as a police officer after review. Apparently the civil board appealed the original decision to fire him.

(That Carpenter was also a drug offender who got a pardon from former Governor Edwin Edwards.) Nugent was suspended with pay and then ousted in a special council meeting.

I've heard of a white cop recently who tracked this brother all the way home from his job, and then shot him before he got to the front door. His girlfriend had just had a baby for him. His excuse? He thought the dead brother was a drug dealer--mistaken ID.

I tell you - don't do it, blksista! I moved back after believing the lie about the New South, and found both Atlanta and Birmingham AL to be places I wouldn't want to be buried in. Black folks are just as bad as white folks, and m family members were pretty terrible as well. It was a time from which I have yet to fully recover.

In fact, an acquaintance of mine told me that if anyone asks how long I stayed, I should tell them that I was in a coma.

I can attest to that as well. I lived in Atlanta for two years and it is still the Deep South. Native black people are trained to that environment and know there place and see you as an outsider - "uppity notherner". They gave me hell!

I caught hell too, msmartin. Admittedly, I'm still a teeny bit bitter about the treatment I received from my immediate family and close relatives, as well as 'friends.'

Hey, I'm still recovering. I had to leave a job without one it was so bad. And I have to pray alot to forget about revenge. The Lord knows most folks would want it and they deserve it.

I initially did not want to leave because I didn't want them to win and I wanted to show my strength, but I think God had a different plan for me - he made it so I had to leave to come home and take care of my mother.

Just know that somebody else knows what you went through. People I've known for years who didn't live there can't even begin to comprehend what I described.

I moved to Dallas after Katrina. So now Dallas is my home, but I'm always still feenin' for N'awlins. I have plans to go home at least 3 more times this year.

I was born there, and partly raised there in New Orleans.

Bush will go down in many family histories as the murderer of New Orleans.

My childhood home was torn down; there's something new there now. But they let the house go down thirty years before.

I have relatives who were displaced by Katrina from New Orleans. I have a cousin who recently went back and she is happy.

I have a friend who says the same thing. My family is from Mississippi. I loathe going there. Always have. I can tolerate a visit, but long periods of time....uh uh.

She's being vetted, but not Billy Jeff? In all probability, she's not now nor has she ever been, in any contention, serious or otherwise, for the Veep spot.

Really, nothing's changed since she lost the primary. She'd never be fully vetted because her SO will never open up full financial records that would reveal donors to the library, the foundation, and how he's accumulated a huge personal fortune in less than a decade. Billy Jeff has no intentions of explaining his 'work' with billionaire Ron Burkle, his nearly-million dollar speaking engagements, nor the rumors of his deals with Uzbekistan as well as certain African countries in re yellow cake uranium. I just don't see that happening in this or any other life time. Ergo, I don't see her being VP to Obama.

Her peeps are floating this story to their embedded journalist(s) at the New York Times. She and those fanatical feminists are trying to remain politically relevant, despite the fact that, as days go by, they are more and more irrelevant.

It seems like a courtesy vet to me. I don't think he'd choose Clinton and she knows it. The Clinton Stans who would be turned off to him choosing another woman weren't going to vote for Obama anyway. I don't understand why people are not getting this. The PUMAs and Hillraisers are out there in the press saying "I'm not voting for Obama!" You have people like Geraldine Ferraro going on Fox saying "I'm not sure if I'll vote for Obama." They're trying to have us believe that if Obama chooses a woman not named Clinton as running mate that these people won't vote for him, when in actuality they aren't voting for him anyway.
