That has ALWAYS been Elisabeth's problem on the show: She does not want to listen to the viewpoint of others. She is forever talking over the other co-hosts, usually making little smart ass remarks. You can't have a discussion with someone like that.

I agree. And even though Whoopi didn't necessarily live through Jim Crow, she is not that far removed from it to realize the implications of the use of the word, which is why I am surprised by her support of it. Most older African Americans--I would guess, 50+ or so, do not use it in their vocabulary at all (I am making a generalization), but at a certain point it became a part of everyday language for the people that came after that generations.

But then again, maybe Whoopi is supporting the use of the word because she is a comedian...I don't know. But I do know she was very upset because she felt that Liz wasn't listening to her.

I watched this and despite the childish animation, it was interesting. However, the idea that black people were settlers is ludicrous. We weren't brought here uner our own free will, so we were victims of "colonial settlers" just as much as the Native population. Interesting too, that the only people considered to be illegal immigrants are Mexican. I'm sure there are others from both black and white countries that never seem to be part of the discussion. I realize that the Mexican population may outnumber the rest, but anytime you try to distill this issue down to one set of people, there's a problem. Personally, I don't think that there are enough penalties against the individuals and businesses that provide work to illegals and becuase of their status can pay them a dollar and hour or less. I'm not judging the people who come here for better lives. But it is interesting that the focus is on them, and not the employers who by exploiting their labor, are providing the dubious opportunity for them to come here in the first place.

Please. Whoopi wasn't yelling, it's just that Elizabeth wasn't LISTENING. Like many people who are stuck in their position.

caligirl-When you have a post on the main page you can click on your name and it will pull up your profile with all your posts and besides them to the right will be a tab with how many points given. Sadly, I only seem to get one, LOL. but underneath there is a tab for replies to that specific post. I clicked and saw that one.

@msmartin--cool
