Summers has some clout beyond his egregious statements. Plus, Obama's an alum as is his wife. It's a bow to Harvard, not necessarily Summers.

Yes, I wish it was Schweitzer...I can at least hope.

But I feel Kaine brings nothing to the table, except the possibility of gaining Virginia. Just being able to hang is not enough.

Kaine doesn't have foreign policy experience, although he speaks fluent Spanish. Schweitzer has worked in security situations, knows Arabic, has lived in Saudi Arabia, and hell, he is from the West.

I don't know what else Kaine brings except a beauty contest. I'd hate for the Republicans to find a chink in him and worry it.

The president of Harvard University, Lawrence H. Summers, sparked an uproar at an academic conference Friday when he said that innate differences between men and women might be one reason fewer women succeed in science and math careers. Summers also questioned how much of a role discrimination plays in the dearth of female professors in science and engineering at elite universities.

I thought he was a new kind of politician? Pragmatic centrism isnt “change” worth believing in. At the same time, his mini state department is filled by folks that were around during the awful Clinton years. It may get washington political points; but again: that's not “change” worth believing in. For crying a loud, he's got Madeline “I dont give two shits about Iraqi Children” Albright as an advisor. That's not change; that's more of the same, repackaged under a different [black] face.

Lynne: Let me clarify my procedure: I ACCIDENTLY downloaded Foxfire over a month ago! It “SAT” on my desktop UNUSED! :>) :>) So when Micheline said that I needed to get it, I said to myself – hmmmmm! What IS IT and WHERE do I GET IT?

Lynne: YES. I had problems starting on Monday, when the Flickr was posted. Micheline advised that I use Mozilla Foxfire as a browser. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! YAAAAAA!!!:>) Now can anyone imagine this information coming from “technologically-challenged -me”??? :>) :>)

I guess there is a glitch that won't allow a link to Wiki but as I looked further into Schweitzer has some great expeeriences. BS in science and he has spent time in North Africa and speaks Arabic. He's looking better and better.
