A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics
A moment that deserves reflection . . .
July 26, 1948: President Harry S. Truman issued Executive Order 9981 . . .
It is hereby declared to be the policy of the President that there shall be equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regard to race, color, religion or national origin. (Truman Library and Museum)
This week the U.S. Armed Forces celebrates 60 years of integration.
I can think of no greater demonstration of patriotism than those who fought (and died) for liberty that they themselves did not have at home. It’s a bit of history that deserves much more attention.
