The list of concerns about Obama are valid but I am surprised to find how easily they are overlooked, not addressed or defended.

I say that if I have to sit down shut up and take it in order for Obama to become President, then he just won’t become President.

I read that interview when it came out. And had no problem with it at all.

If a presidential candidate can say, “I don’t believe in gay marriage, but I’ll leave it up to individual states to figure out” then fine.

At least he wants to repeal all of DOMA and keep the issue out of the Constitution.

I don’t always agree with Andrew Sullivan, but I’ve never known him to be this silly.

It’s a non starter for Imus but not Reverend Wright.

He says some really great, honest, and subtle stuff about what kind of ally he is and is not on LGBT stuff — look at the discussion of “leadership” on page 2

I wish everyone would seriously LISTEN and attend to him as if he is an actual real human being — rather than some people/groups treating him as a two-dimensional cutout to pin all their hopes and desires, projecting their own expectations on him.

Following election things now is making me kind of sick.

Guilt by association worked for Hagee/Parsley. It’s not gonna fly here. Hell, if it were that big a deal-if you really “needed” McCain to “renounce and reject” Imus, why didn’t you say something when he went on the show?

If another big racial controversy erupts in America, even though Obama’s not involved, it focuses people on black-white issues. The Reverend Wright controversy obviously set back Barack Obama. Everybody knows that. And savvy folks also understand the less race stuff the better, as far as Obama is concerned.

What did Obama have to renounce and reject d.? So it’s allright to have guilt by association for Obama/Wright/Pfledger but not McCain/Imus? Sounds like a double standard to me.

I agree. totally. I’m tired of this guilt by association. Part of the reason I’m glad Obama and crew didn’t ask for Black’s head after the terrorist attack comment.

As to the supreme court case. If I’m correct only 9 states allowed for the death of child rapists. Given the courts movement in limiting capital punishment in recent years this outcome makes sense.

The offense in question is beyond horrible and whenever children are involved I think we’re more apt to raw vengeance. I will say that one thing my catholic up-bringing left me was a distrust of vengeance and belief that life should never be discarded, despite human ills.

The two don’t compare, and I think you know that. If Obama had been the first guest on Imus’ show, someone would be calling on him to denounce Imus.

That kind of “tit for that,” “your associate is worse than my associate” behavior is stupid.

But hell, just to appease you: The Imus who made that statement is not the Imus McCain knows. Sound familiar?

As for McCain and Imus, McCain was the first guest Imus had on his show when he returned to radio after the “nappy headed hoe’s” incident. McCain was a regular guest on Imus’show. McCain needs to renounce and reject the same thing Obama had to renounce and reject. You ask what McCain has to reject and renounce, what did Obama have to reject and renounce?

I know about this case. I don’t have any kids.

But, I don’t believe the guy should be executed.

He’s a child molestor.

Here’s my plan for him.

Put him in prison.

Tell the other prisoners what he’s done.

Tell the guards to take a long lunch break.

See if he’s alive when they get back.

Put him in isolation until he heals.

And, then repeat this process over and over until he’s not alive when they return from break.

Prisoners can dish out a punishment that the state can’t.

I’d rather leave child molestors to the prison population.

I see the point. Since my son’s so young, it’s hard for me to look at it from the perspective you suggest.

I almost want to say that I don’t care about what the rapist might be thinking; he’s earned his ticket to hell, and we should expedite the trip as much as possible.

I think most states have consent laws, but I don’t think you could legally define a child without also defining other age groups.

I hope they get the 2nd Amendment case right tomorrow, but with this court, I’m kinda doubtful there….

Question about the rape verdict. Can one see this from the perspective of now, that the Rapist has raped the kid, knowing that death awaits him or her, what motive is there for keeping the kid alive?

Im not going to say, as a parent, I woudlnt want the worst thing imaginable to happen to the offender, but not knowing the rationale of a rapist, I can say I dont want the worst imaginable thing happening to my child as a result…

Also, what constitutes a child? Does the Supreme Court mandate a national law for this? Ive seen consent laws ruin Military Careers when I served in the Navy. I’d hope that any decision that involves the topic of Rape also includes the topic of age and consent

Couldnt agree more. I was a HUGE SWV fan.

Every single interest group in the nation is making all sorts of “historical” demands on Barack.

I guess people really do believe he’s a messiah.

I a single presidential campaign, he’s supposed to save the nation from all of its divisions just by giving a speech?

Make no mistake, if Barack gave such a speech I would applaud him. Just as I would applaud him for giving a faith speech that confronted Muslim discrimination for what it is.

But.

Can the man get elected first?

Of course Barack is the product of a union that was considered illegal in many states when he was born. But what if, just what if, he honestly doesn’t believe in full marriage equality?

My mother doesn’t, and she still came to my wedding. She still calls Job her son. My father didn’t and he still sang at my wedding. And he always called Job his son.

Maybe I just don’t need the Democratic nominee to make any more history than he’s already made in his attempt to get elected to the Oval Office.

But that’s me.

Maybe I need a break from this election.

Thank God he is wearing his flag pin otherwise that would be the story not the fact that he graced the cover without words typed across his picture. I am sure however the happiness he shows will be interpreted as “smug” or “uppity”.
