But I believe there are plenty of other people, who are not mentally challenged like Sean Hannity, who would really appreciate long, drawn-out discussions from Obama about his reaching out to all kinds of people, ranging from Republicans to Jeremiah Wright.

Actually, this reaching out to many different kinds of people is one reason I believe Obama will be a great president.

Sometimes White folks let it slip even when they don’t they are. Last night on The Keebler Elf’s show, that Krista woman from The Financial Times said this about Michelle Obama.:

I’m paraphrasing, but here’s how it is:

Barack Obama has made a career of making White people feel at ease. Michelle Obama, on the other hand, just doesn’t seem to have that as her approach.

Now, she tried to cover by saying, ‘ there’s nothing wrong with that approach’, but it was obvious, by what she said, that of course, she thought that it was wrong.

I’ve said for awhile, White folk just suspect that Michelle’s not really studdin’ them; she doesn’t hate them, but I don’t believe she gives a rat’s ass about them.She takes them on a one-on-one basis, but doesn’t concern herself with them. And, they can’t stand that. Also, Michelle Obama doesn’t seem to have a ‘ bowing and scraping’ gene; she doesn’t seem to be a ‘ grateful Negro’.

You add in that she’s VISIBLY BLACK, and well, they are besides themselves.

I really think that’s why they hate Michelle Obama so much, is because she is undeniably BLACK. And they can’t understand why Barack would choose such a black woman, why he would self identify as black, why he would go to a black church, why he would write a book about his black father who abandoned him. They can’t understand that so they blame Michelle.

Town, I have believed this too. They just can’t accept it. WHY does he choose to say that he’s Black….AS IF, in the country of the ‘one-drop’ rule, he could be anything else.

I also think the hatred of Michelle is they are projecting all of their negative feelings towards (darker) black women in general onto Michelle. Somehow I think if Michelle looked like Beyonce, Fox never would have called her a baby mama or claimed she was engaging in a terrorist fist jab or that she said “whitey” .

Bingo. It’s Michelle being a darker Sister, who obviously has such a strong sense of self that unnerves them to no end.

I’m rambling but to sum it up, I don’t think Barack can explain Trinity and why he stayed there for 20 years to the satisfaction of the Hannitys of the world because in their minds he shouldn’t have been going to a BLACK church to begin with.

Hannity knows black American history, however race baiting made his career. It’s all he has.

There is no explanation Obama can give that will satisfy a Sean Hannity type who equates black anger and dissent with hating America and hating white people. If you say something against America, you are saying it against white people, in their minds.

Many white people of the Hannity mindset don’t understand why black people are going to ‘BLACK’ churches to begin with. In their minds, you go to church to worship the Lord and get the scripture and the Lord is “colorblind,” so if you are going to a ‘BLACK’ church to begin with you’re already in the wrong.

If the Obamas were to join a plain jane, regular, non-controversial church whose membership was African American, the Hannity mindset would scream that Obama was RACIST for joining another ‘Black’ church. They would wonder what’s wrong with him. That it was “racist.” That he and Michelle are teaching their daughters segregation and how to hate white people by attending an all black church.

I just don’t think any explanation he could give would satisfy those who are against him. These are the same people who don’t understand why there are black colleges & universities, or black fraternities and sororities, or black oriented tv stations, shows, magazines and newspapers. These people are even angry that Obama self-identifies as “black!” They think by him self-identifying as “black” that he hates the white side of his family.

Come on, you have people like Ferraro who claimed that when Obama says in his speeches, “Our Time is Now” (to mostly white crowds) that he is telling white people their time is up and black people are taking over!

There’s no explanation in the world that could satisfy those people. Truth be told, if he gave the suspected real reason why he went to Trinity Church, they wouldn’t be able to comprehend that explanation. IMO he went to Trinity Church because it was probably the first time in his life he was surrounded by people who looked like him who told him it was ok to look like him. He could probably be himself and breathe.

The Ferraros and Hannitys of the world don’t understand that because in their mind, only THEIR validation is valid. Why does Obama need to go to this BLACK church to get validation? Why does Michelle need to major in AA Studies? Why aren’t they GRATEFUL we “let them in to OUR schools?” Why isn’t Michelle happy and smiling more? She must hate white people if she’s not skinning and grinning at us. That Michelle is a BAD influence on Barack, she hates white people and is racist and he’s married to a hateful racist like that so he must hate white people too.

I loved how fast they responded to the 3am ad. I look at the rumours and think them silly. But they chip away at the subconscious if they’re not rapidly, strongly counteracted.

I’m unhappy to see the smear against Michelle and Barack, and I’m glad they’re fighting back.

Of course, most of the smears are just plain silly and offensive. But I’m afraid that the Rev. Wright performances will “stick”.

I know Obama had complex reasons for becoming so involved with the Rev. Wright. What I’m trying to say is, Obama’s reasons were complex, and his explanation also needs to be complex, and long, and repeated.

Just my opinion… obviously Obama knows how to run a campaign!
