Obama Campaign: Howard Dean to Remain as DNC Chair

As Obama moves to unify the Democratic Party, he is sending his strategist Paul Tewes to join the DNC. But Howard Dean will remain. Obama campaign spokesperson Bill Burton:
“Senator Obama appreciates the hard work that Chairman Dean has done to grow our party at the grassroots level and looks forward to working with him as the chairman of the Democratic Party as we go forward.”

I know we’ve had our testy moments with Dean, but I’m a fan of the 50 State Strategy, and I see no reason to remove Dean right now.

Interesting…I thought Dean was out…after this election period.
On the other hand I also heard Dean’s 50 state strategy fit with Obama’s grassroots strategy.
I like it. Now that Obama has won the nomination I will contribute to the DNC too!

Isn’t Dean from the heavily democratic Vermont? I read also, that he wasn’t an “insider” in the party. Maybe that appeals to Barack on principle. I like the way Dean goes after McCain. I’m glad they’re not hanging him out to dry.

Guys if Obama is Luke Skywalker( Ican’t use Mace Windu because Palpatine bumped him off and all :( ) Dean is Yoda he pioneered internet fundraising, the 50 state strategy, and the expansion of the Democratic base. Without his contributions the sweet victory we enjoy this week would not have been possible. Now the DNC combined with the community organizer ethic that created the most powerful democratic political machine in history will become unstoppable. I told my white Max in February the race was over in IOWA. Momentum in science is a transfer of energy that is not always visible until the end result. Now Obama proved me right. Barack the Vote!

What I remember is when Dean implemented the 50-state strategy, which led to the Democrats regaining control of both Houses of Congress, and after it was over, James Carville took to the airwaves to say the strategy was a failure and that Dean should be replaced with the Dark Sith.
We know Carville’s singing a different tune these days, and someone needs to remind him when he said Howard Dean sucked at the job; yet Obama is now the Democratic Nominee by using that very strategy, and he’s rewarding Howard Dean by virtually ensuring that he remains as DNC Chair.
Carville’s strategy has resulted in eight years of George Bush – need I say more?

Harold Ford is not fit to tie Howard Dean’s shoes. Ford sold his soul to the devil (at a deep discount I might add) a long time ago. He needs to just go away.

Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) was the problem here. Harold Ford is DLC Chair (Clinton/centrist wing of the party).

This is great news for the netroots wing of the party. Clinton was going to boot Dean from the job if she got the nomination, and replace him a DLC hack. The nomination battle was long viewed as a proxy fight over the direction of the DNC by those paying attention, but that fight got short shrift in the media.

Yep and everyone will soon realize the brilliance of Dean’s 50 State Strategy and Obama running the party. Clinton was told she was on her own by Charles Rangel and the entire NY Congressional wing. Even Tubbs-Jones was on tv being congenial. If Clinton had won the Dems might as well had been Repubs for all the good it would’ve done. Obama pulled the party back from the brink of destruction! I love how he’s going to diminish the influence of the PACs and lobbyists. Anyone who thought he was weak will see how foolish it was to underestimate him.
Ok now that we’ve got our man, what do we want?
