Gerry Ferraro goes out of her way to say that Obama is sexist and now that she is being questioned, offers up meaningless descriptions of that sexism, yet she fails to point out when McCain allowed a supporter to call her a bitch.

I wrote the Cherokee nation when I heard about this last year. I think we should wait to see what the courts decide. But if the courts uphold the Cherokee decision, I think the freemen should be allowed to sue the Cherokee nation for reparations. Perhaps this is why Obama isn’t getting involved because he wants to see how litigation plays out.

I read a blogger touting the fund as having Barack’s back but that kind of ignorance neglects that Hillary’s name is also part of the fund which means that money put in can also go to her. Hillary’s name doesn’t need to be on the fund for her to help raise money, just as Gore’s name is not on it. However, by law her name must be on it in order to use the funds, especially for disbursement of $30 million to pay her debts.

Native Americans, about the only group comparable to African-Americans in terms of the scope and degree of physical and cultural oppression faced (though their genocidal extermination is akin to the Jewish Holocaust), never get mentioned as the Model Minority of the Month when people want to disparage our failure to assimilate. I wonder why…

Thinking about Native Americans government-to-government relations, as problematic as it is (i.e. the US gov’t keeping its treaty agreements)… highlights what I once seen described about America’s racial hierarchy of “hate” with Blacks as the “paradigmatic” other. White(ness) is defined, finds its meaning, etc. in the negative – i.e. not being Black.

Could you imagine how crazed White folks would be if Black folks had some type of nation status and not only benefited from affirmative action (which is just like welfare; whites benefit too/more) but received “race-based” tuition waivers?

You hear racist crap about casinos, etc. but nothing about that.

Last Fall, I believe it was, the Cherokee Nation moved to expel its Black ‘members’ by reverting back to an old US gov’t document which discriminated against Blacks with Cherokee “blood” while at the same time including “Whites” with much smaller quantities of Cherokee blood.

The issue is over benefits tribe members get, let alone the denial of the Freedmen’s heritage.

I’m no authority on this but that’s the way I understand the issue. The whole issue is in court now and Obama’s position is to let that process play out. What’s problematic about his position is how he has cautioned against interfering in tribal affairs which is, IMO, solid principle but, to me, it has a states’ right-ish feel to it.

So obviously members of congress including CBC members ramp up on that rhetoric and, rightly or wrongly, it makes Obama looks like he isn’t that concerned about “black issues.”
