It's disappointing that Senator McCain and his campaign used this issue to launch yet another lengthy personal, political attack instead of debating an honest policy difference. He should know that this is not about John McCain or Barack Obama – it’s about giving our veterans a real chance to afford four years of college without harming retention. Senator Webb’s bipartisan bill will do this, and the bill that John McCain supports would not. These endless diatribes and schoolyard taunts from the McCain campaign do nothing to advance the debate about what matters to the American people.

Obama’s response to McCain’s extra long rant:

I am proud to stand with Senator Webb and a bipartisan coalition to give our veterans the support and opportunity they deserve. Remember, HRC can't win even with the MI/FL antics, but if she gets within 120 delegates (which could happen on May 31st if a stacked committee supports her), then she intends to lobby up to the Dem Convention, sapping resources away from the Party and making it extremely difficult to win against McCain and his team in November. We have to slap Hillary down now!

Again-- if you can show up, act respectfully. Make it multiethnic-- bring in your Latino and white friends, Asian, native American, Pacific Islander-- and be optimistic.

Intelligent signs to make the point are fine. My friends' suggestions:

1. "No penalties for following the rules! Brought to you by Michigan and Florida for Obama!"

2. "Don't change the rules in the 4th quarter! Brought to you by Floridians and Michiganders for Obama!"

3. "We are proud Democrats from Michigan and Florida, and we support Obama for following the rules!"

4. "We're from Michigan, we're Obama supporters, we were disenfranchised. No Michigan delegates without Obama's name on the ballot!"

5. "Democrats for fair play, Michigan and Florida for Obama!"

6. "Ex-Clinton supporters in Michigan and Florida for Obama! We support those who follow the rules and campaign!"

Obviously use your creativity but stay positive and respectful!

Here are the details:

We need to register to attend if you are in the area.
What: DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee Meeting
When: May 31, 2008 - 9:30 AM

* Morning Session: Oral Arguments
* Afternoon Session: Consideration and Debate

Where: Marriott Wardman Park Hotel - Salon I
2660 Woodley Road NW, Washington, DC

A Note on Public Participation

This meeting is open to the public, however due to space constraints,
guests are being asked to pre-register their attendance. Registration
will open online at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 27.
