The boom should have been lowered on Hillary Clinton when she made the statements back in March, but people were too scared of “the chickens have come home to roost” to look at Hillary’s statement.

She didn’t bring it up again until early May, after she got her ass whipped in NC and almost lost IN by a small percentage.

Then after WV and KY she got bold again, after seeing nothing happening to Mike Huckabee when he made his little crack.

Because after the March statements, when she made the two other statements in early May, she didn’t use the word “assassination.” But after she saw everyone gloss over Mike Huckabee’s “joke” she got gold and used “assassination” again.

The problem I have with Hillary Clinton’s statement is she’s given everyone permission to joke, discuss and ponder Obama’s assassination. And if everyone is discussing it, it’s only a matter of time before some nut decides he’s been given his signal by Hillary.

That’s why I’m getting a bit tired of the “super” delegates because I think if Obama had said something like that against her, he’d be kicked to the curb with the quickness. But everyone wants to treat Hillary with kid gloves and “give her respect.”

I’m sorry, somebody who openly wishes for the physical demise of their opponent so they can step in should not be handled with kid gloves or given any respect.

She is straight up saying she’s staying in the race “in case” something happens to Obama…and now we know what that “something happens” is.

Town – I see no reason why HRC used these egs mainly because Bill Clinton wrapped up his nomination in March 1992 and RFK commenced his campaign in April/May 1968.

The Superdelegates should stop pussy footing with the Clintons and get a grip – end this crisis!

Clinton Camp Stokes RFK Flap by Blaming Obama

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign accused Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign of fanning a controversy over her describing the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy late in the 1968 Democratic primary as one reason she is continuing to run for the presidency.

“The Obama campaign … tried to take these words out of context,” Clinton campaign chairman Terence R. McAuliffe said on “Fox News Sunday.” “She was making a point merely about the time line.”

The issue is particularly sensitive given longstanding concerns about Obama’s safety as a presidential candidate. (He first received Secret Service protection last May.) The Obama campaign called Clinton’s words unfortunate and circulated a TV commentary criticizing them, although Obama himself said Saturday that he took Clinton at her word that she meant no harm.

Hours after mentioning Kennedy’s assassination, Clinton said, “I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family, was in any way offensive.”

Obama senior strategist David Axelrod dodged questions about why the campaign was still circulating commentaries criticizing Clinton even after suggesting it wants to move beyond the controversy.

“We’re beyond that issue now, so certainly we’re not trying to stir the issue up,” Axelrod said.

Asked if Clinton has personally called Obama to apologize for the reference, McAuliffe said she has not, “nor should she.” He added, “Let’s be clear. This had nothing to with Senator Obama or his campaign.”

McAuliffe noted that Robert F. Kennedy’s son — who endorsed Clinton last November — has said that Clinton’s reference to his father’s death did not cross the line.

“If Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doesn’t find offense to it, why is it that everybody else should?” McAuliffe said. “They shouldn’t. They ought to take Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — he did not misinterpret it or misjudge it.”

Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation”, Clinton senior strategist Howard Wolfson said McAuliffe is “absolutely right” that Clinton didn’t want to apologize to Obama for the remark and said: “I think it was unfortunate to attack Senator Clinton’s remarks without knowing fully what she had said.”

McAuliffe said Clinton is staying in the race to give hope to the millions of women who have voted for her and “she is winning races.” And the campaign chairman made clear that his boss would strongly consider pressing on if the Democratic National Committee does not allow Florida and Michigan delegates to vote at the party’s convention this summer — a decision that would boost Clinton’s delegate total. The DNC’s rules and bylaws committee is scheduled to meet Saturday to discuss the issue.

“We are prepared to fight this so that all 50 states are included, that the delegates be seated. Let’s have no questions about that. This race is still very close,” McAuliffe said.

Wolfson said the campaign believes the DNC will reinstate Florida and Michigan “100 percent. That’s what they should do. That will obviously help us, but it’s the right thing to do.”

The Obama campaign, meanwhile, delivered a strong signal that it expects the nomination contest to wrap up in the next 10 days, after the final primaries.

“We expect on June 3rd that this process will come to an end,” Obama senior strategist David Axelrod said on ABC’s “This Week.”

“People in this country want change. They’ve identified Senator Obama as the candidate who can bring that change,” he said. “And we’re going to be united as a party after June 3rd.”

Axelrod acknowledged, “There’s an enormous amount of pride and investment in Senator Clinton among millions of women across this country,” and that unifying the party after a tense nomination contest will produce “some tumult in the short run.”

However, he said, Clinton’s “strongest supporters understand how desperately we need change in this country, and I think that they understand that this is a critical election.”

One prominent Clinton supporter acknowledged that virtually all hope for her winning the nomination is gone now.

“Obama clearly has the momentum. I am a proud Hillary delegate. But I predict the race will be over soon,” said Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.). “The loser will concede graciously. “And I hope that we build what I call a unity ticket, either with both of them on the ticket or with the people on the ticket strongly representing the two bases which we will need to combine if we’re to win in November over a very strong Republican challenge.”

Kieth Olbermann’s special comment in which he said “Cold BloodedaKillers” in describing the Administration ie Rice, Rove Cheney etc. was perceived as him talking about the troops and every right wing nut in the free world came out and asked for his dismissal.

He had to come out and clarify that comment.

Bill Maher said that Vice President Cheney’s Death WOULD SAVE LIVES, and MANY over at Fox

You cant have it both ways is the poit we try to make..Plus, what gets missed over the comment, was

A. Her calling him Osama. May seem small to some, but it feeds into the muslim stereo type if even a little.

B. The ease and tone in her voice in which she said it. I likened it to her looking at Barack as nothing more then an uppety N*gg*r who’s way outta his place and needs to be checked.

Now. i may in your opinion read entirely to much into it. But, from my perspective, when ive seen peolpe speak in that tone, and basically use that level of nonchalance it typically meant they looked at the person they were speakin of as mere pion…

there are nutters out there who think it would be right to shoot obama, it would be patriotic, as patriotic as killing saddam, or osama bin laden. these nutters read a lot into three little words like “both we could”, and see any apology as just necessary window-dressing, as negligable: they have received the “real message”, they are not alone anymore…

that is why one can say that hillary clinton has started the hunt on obama, and trotta has followed suit. while clinton’s remark was still somewhat ambiguous (not its implication, though), i wonder if there are not laws out there by which trotta should be held accountable at court.

i think that a court sentence against trotta would very much serve to send the message that the american society does NOT allow to call for a political assassination. a message the nutters would also hear.

3) a major candidate for the office of President or Vice President, or a member of the immediate family of such candidate;

or

(4) a person protected by the Secret Service under section 3056(a)(6);

shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.

Not the dumbest comment I’ve heard recently, but pretty high on the list.

The “Obama/Osama” slip isn’t that big a deal anymore. The people who still buy into that line of thought weren’t ever going to vote for him anyway.

You go around certain antiwar circles and you can hear talk of assassinsting Bush, sometimes within shouting distance of the White House.

Having said that, it was not a smart comment for a couple of reasons: one, it’s a really low form of the politics of fear.

Two, it’s terrible strategy: if the people who would be most affected by this sort of comment-older African Americans-didnt vote for Obama because of this, he’d probably still win. Plus, if anyone were to actually go through with it, it would be someone/some group from the right wing, which then slanders the entire GOP.

A question about that law: does it apply to a candidate for the nomination, or a nominated candidate post-convention, when they usually get protection?

The only way this gets stopped is that media folk get fired when they flip off their mouths.

And I’m thinking we wasted all that time and energy getting Don Imus off TV; I’m sorry not enough energy was spent in building the movement to send the message in that if you’re going to joke about Presidential candidates being assassinated, or “nappy-headed Hoes”, it should cost you your job.

Guess how fast we go back to political correctness when that happens?
