Everyone assumes that because I am black I should be a Democrat. I never liked the idea that no one considered what issues actually affect me or which parties values may align better with my personal values. It’s always you are black so you must be a Democrat.

But why?

I’m not a big fan of social programs. I believe that people can succeed by working hard, getting the best education possible and believing in themselves, and taking personal responsibilty for their actions.

I am conservative. I am Catholic. I have strong family values. I don’t believe in divorce. I believe a child raised in a home with two parents is better then one. I don’t believe in abortion (for myself, although I think a woman should be able to do what she wants with her body). I want lower taxes. I want less government intervention. I’m a military brat, have tremendous respect for our men and woman in uniform and think that this country should have big defense organization. However I think we should get the hell out of Iraq and knowing what I know now I don’t think we should have ever gone in. But I admit in the beginning I was cheering the war. Yep, I feel stupid for that one.

The Republican party aligns with a lot of my interests and beliefs, although not all of them. And there are many extreme right-wing members of the party that I can’t stand, Hannity comes to mind. But people really fit into more then two groups so you are going to run into extremists no matter what party you affliate with.

I have never seen the Democratic party, who has 90% support from our community, really worry about listening to what black people are really saying and really, why should they, they are going to get 90% of the vote no matter what.

Imagine the voting power if people actually thought about why they were Democrats and more found that they are more Independent then they originally thought or even more Conservative. If the Republican party thought they had a chance to win a significant part of the black community then voices would be heard. If the Democrats thought they would lose a significant part of the black community then voices would be heard.

And I always hear, Republicans don’t like black people. I don’t think Republicans are any more racists then Democrats, we can see that from this election. Hell, the Clinton’s are the ones that are suppose to be down with us so imagine what everyone else is thinking. I’m not sure where that argument started but it’s pointless. Some people are just idiots and they come in all shapes, sizes and affiliations..

At the end of the day I vote for the best candidate and right now I think that is Obama. I disagree with some of his policies and am dreading my taxes going up but the war is a big issue for me so I’ll suck it up. I also think his ability to inspire people of all races young and old is what our country needs right now because it’s been a rough couple of years. And on top of it all I do want to see a black President. And I think he is going to be great in the position.

This is truly a pathetic showing and will be remembered for generations as the most depressing spectical the Democratic Party has ever put on. They don’t deserve Senator Obama.

Agreed. A mouthful of the truth. In the end he may have been better off running as an independent because with this party behind you it is hard to recognize the opposition. I am holding my breath for the moment they figure out a way to give the nomination away to the “inevitable” Queen.

Webb, she is not going to quit without taking a stake to the heart. I posted earlier that O might have to slam her, even though he truly doesn’t want to. He may have to pick between winning or not winning. Rachel M. has said it several times & I agree, she is looking for all excuses to take it to the convention. pat buchanan has stated that she can be voted onto the ticket as VP against Obama’s will!!! All she needs to do is have someone bring it up. I don’t want to see O make any concessions to this witch, but if he does, who can blame him? There might be a lot to lose if he doesn’t.

Delusional, I think you are distorting & exaggerating people’s support of Obama. No one is worshipping him, at least as far as I can tell. S’matter of fact, AA’s didn’t really get on his bandwagon until he started winning among White people. I’ve stated several times on this blog that I was 60-40 in favor of hellory at the beginning. I also liked Richardson & Edwards, & lastly Dodd & Huckabee. I was totally open to being wowed & wooed. Before Obama, I had never donated to a political campaign in my life. I barely even vote! But I have been impressed with O’s integrity, intellect & organization. I have also been deepy offended by hellory’s lack of same. How could I support her after the race baiting (she & billy insulted my whole race!)? How could I support McCain when he says that he is going to extend a war that I don’t agree with? I don’t know anything about Barr, but from what I know of Libertarians, I would not be inclined to be one or vote for one. I lean more toward socialism. Everyone has their own story on how they came to prefer O to become president, and this is mine. As others have mentioned, you are obviously angry about something, though I haven’t been able to ascertain what Obama has to do with it. I’m not sure why all those white women hate him either, except that they believed hillbilly’s spin.

My greatest fear is that Hillary will play/spin her defeat in such a way that she thinks she’s Nicole Simpson and *O* is…dare I even say this…OJ.

In that case, the Democratic Party will SURELY BE DESTROYED…even if *O* gets the nomination only to lose b/c Hillary didn’t step up and campaign for him…thinking she would get another chance in 2012…YES, this party will be a wrap. If *O* is not victorious, AAs need to start exploring our options.

One more thing- The fact that Steve Geller, the thuggish clown of a Florida state Senate Democratic leader, based the lawsuit he just filed on the idea that the DNC violated the Voting Rights Act against Florida blacks is a digusting slap in the face.

I am so fucken glad I did not watch a minute of today’s coverage I might have went postal when I went out to do my errands today.

I will tell you this … Civil War or not, Hillary seems to care little about helping others and all about helping herself to the Presidency.

I’m beginning to think a HRC Presidency would be Bush lite. Which would only be a small step up from McCain (who is simply a smarter, Braver, angrier Bush).

Funny … those comments about Hillary wanting to run in 2012 by destroying Obama, doesn’t seem too far off the mark now … does it?

Hillary can whine and complain all she wants. Fact is, we’ve got a stable “magic number.” And Obama is well within reach.

He can pass that number this week–possibly by Tuesday (Chuck Todd was on top of this stuff).

Once he crosses that line the nomination is his. And Hillary can’t do anything about that. 2117 means he’s the nominee. End of story. . . end of Democratic primary.

The genius behind all of this is, now, Hillary is on the outside looking in. Her whole argument was to count MI and FL so they’re represented at the convention. Well, that’s a dead issue now. They have representation. And both of the compromises were made with full support of the FL and MI state Democrats. Hillary’s all by herself. She’s lost whatever moral highground she had. Now, it’s just her and her partisans.

Party unity? For now, Obama just needs to focus on registering new voters and GOTV. He can win despite the sour grapes coming from some Clinton supporters.

P.S. Hillary’s supporters really made her look bad. I would LOVE to see the media talk about that.

In regards to the fawning over “Ebony snapshots”. Could it be that so many are happy to see a Black, intact, family? The images we see in the media are of Black men (and people in general) are rarely positive.

Here in the Chi, my local news is dominated by images of R. Kelley, drug dealers, murders, and other non-sense. So you will have to forgive me if I get a little excited when I see a POSITIVE image of a BLACK family.
