I hate BET. It's part of my basic cable package so I can't remove it. I never tune in anymore, the first few times it appalled me how bad the programming was. They have the opportunity to invest in uplifting programming for the black community, and provide jobs to black actors, but they make a willful choice not to. BET chooses instead to milk the young black community for dollars.

Why is the UK media interested in BET programming, racism, and black politics (I'm against BET and have boycotted BET and BET.com since 2000. yes, it's that deep)when they can't get their own race relations as it pertains to their own Black Brits? How many Black bit CEO's, Prime Ministers, Parliment, newscasters, actors are there in the UK? Talk about hypocrisy.


Yes Debra Lee is an apologist and I'm disappointed in her. She has so much power to restore BET back to it's glory, but hasn't. And her feet and those around her needs to be held to the fire.

Hear, hear posb, the British should be the last to be discussing race related issues, and, with BET no less. With all the flaws of this country and, the HRC penchant for race baiting for a couple of bigot votes to win, this place still has more opportunites for black men than anywhere in Europe.

The style of interviewing in the news here in the UK tends to be much more tense than in the US. I think the curiosity about Debra's opinions stem from BET making their mark in the UK recently.


It's intersting how the Brits never have these sorts of interviews with higher ups in the Black British community...but then, they don't really exist. Folks can say what they want about the US...we have our issues, but racism is rife in the UK. The only reason you see Black faces on tv here is because of American outlets. I don't know of any Black British CEO's and I hardly see any Black faces in business here...but you'll never ever get them to admit to it.

She tried to remain neutral citing position and that fact that she knew them both well, but when he pressed her with questions about Barack being deemed the "black" president, she became slightly defensive and that's were I thought I sensed that she had pride in him being a viable candidate.



At least she didn't pull a Nutter, Jackson, Tubbs or Johnson move and serve him up.



I agree the interview was weak though, he worked her and I didn't think it was malicious. He asked the questions I would like many black leaders to answer.

This interview is whacked. He's taking her to task and she doesn't really have any answers.


I'm also not sure she's clearly for Obama.

I just wanted to let you know that I tried, honest I did. I got the vieo rolling and I was going to take notes and everything. But it's BET. I'm BET intolerant. Sorry.

She looked great...but I found the interview slightly awkward. Possibly because Stephen seemed a little tense. He talked far too much and she didn't get the chance to do her thing. You know how sometimes in an interview there's just a easy back and forth and good timing? Well, I didn't feel that. She was charming nonetheless and she looked lovely in blue.

Why in the world would anyone ask BET anything about politics, when they don't even have a news team following this election? Or even a news division for that matter. BET is hardly the place to go for anything black related, unless its rap trash, or the emulating of the so called thug life to send as the worst sort of stereotypes about black women the world has seen in 50 years.

Hillary may have won CA - of course there's the case of the dumped votes - but she lost the SF Bay where I live. And yeah she paid off the lying cheating mayor of SF [whom I did not vote for because I saw him as a snake oil salesman] but Obama has the fierce D.A. Kamala Harris as one of his supporters. SF isn't gay in population stats just as a political block but let me tell you, they're wealthy whites. I had never experienced any racist attitudes from gay people until I moved here and I was quite shocked at first until I realized it is an issue for some. Being from NY most of my interactions had been with gay men [and some women] who were also people of color. Go figure. Anyway I got an email from Hillary asking for more money. I am crossing my fingers that PA will be the end!!! PLEASE!! Oh and has anyone seen the new Obama ad for PA where he shows the footage of her getting boo'd? It's hilarious....

Somehow I don't think Barack really wants Debra Lee's public endorsement. Who wants to see themselves lampooned on "The Boondocks?"


PS I think Colin Powell should cut the bull and come out in public for Barack. You KNOW he is on the down low. A press conference at the site were those regular folks downed Flight 93 in Pa., with Powell by his side...I'm already tearing up.



Speaking of tearing, on Fox News Dick morris suggested that Obama just pay off Hillary's campaign debt and she and Bill will go away. Now that's sounds like something Debbie Lee would ask someone to do, so that's why I'm skeptical that she's pulling of "O."

CNN profiled SBO on 360 and at the end of the profile AC said that he had been working on a run for president most of his life.

Many MSM outlets are IMO complicit in Hillbillary's attempt to cut/slash her way to the whitehouse.


There are many sotries that are not reported. Sure, they gave Bosnia a few days but skipped the real story behind the money and the CTA.



I am just out of shock and awe. I grown accustomed to the one-sidedness of this coverage. I'm just lying back and waiting on win.

Sometimes Black people are just hilarious. Eugene Robinson on Countdown tonight had me LMAO when he went through his list of all the 'blessings' of being a Black Man in America. It was frigging hilarious, and sometimes, you can make a point, with his laid back, almost jovial style...it was harsh, and I wonder if the White audience knew just how biting Robinson was being.



I rewound it a couple of times because it just cracked me up.

My post was meant to highlight "why is it OK , if true, according to the post from Brent Brudowsky that the media doesn't take Clinton to task for saying "she hates San Francisco" and faking she's a shot and beer guzzler vs Obama admitting he bungled some words!"



What is really is demeaning and condescending. Why is it ok for the media to allow Clinton to say she "hates San Francisco?"



It is a double standard, and it is anti Obama. You all should ask your media friends about this double standard.

I meant to say that he is taking her to task regarding BET programming and its effect on the black community. IMO her only defense was that the videos are no different thant the ones shown on MTV and other channels.


When asked if she thought a black president would be able to do anything for black America, she replied he could but did not provide an example of what one could do.



This is one of a few times when I've seen an interview regarding the black community where the journalist was neither sympathetic nor condescending, rather matter-of-factly presenting the issues and probatively fierce in the search for an answer.

This has got to be the worst act since George Bush donned a flight suit to impersonate a war hero.



Here comes the real condescending candidate, Hillary ($800,000 from Colombian speeches, $109 million family account), impersonating a beer-drinking, whiskey-downing, gun-toting candidate of the people. Who’s gonna believe that one?



Notice Hillary dished in some “hate San Francisco” talk between her swigs of booze and her shooting a few deer. Did Karl Rove write that one, or did it come from Mark (Colombian trade deal) Penn?



Now what, exactly, was Hillary trying to appeal to among Pennsylvania voters? When she was demonizing San Francisco, exactly who else was she demonizing, and who did she think she was appealing to in Pennsylvania with that one?



I’ll buy lunch for the first person who gets it right.
