McCain’s file was breached exactly once by one of the same people who breached Obama’s file. Which was breached three times. The State Department doesn’t know the reasons for these four breaches. Or they do but they’re not telling us.

The State Department is telling us the system worked.

Now it’s on both sides, and I’ll wait for the inevitable blame to fall on the Republicans.

nobody’s information should be breached, to me. and if there was curiosity, then, who else’s info was also breached? if no one else’s info was breached — it wasn’t curiosity.

if obama’s was breached after he won; but hillary’s was not breached after she won; and mccain or romney or huckabee were not breached after they won — it wasn’t curiosity, it was intentional.

don’t know who was behind it, though.

If it were McCain’s/Clinton’s passport, would you care more about the “why” than the “how?”

If you want to hold this up as another dirty trick by Clinton, you’re not going to get any complaints from me. My whole point is that before you start assigning motives to people, how ’bout we wait and see what comes out of the investigation?

Though, I guess the unfortunate reality is that-at least to Obama’s supporters-whatever the truth ends up being isn’t going to really matter.

Besides, what does anyone stand to gain from this? It’s going to show that he went to Africa, which is public knowledge; that he’s been to Indonesia, which is public knowledge…noticing a trend?

I’m not saying that it doesn’t look/sound/smell bad. But to rush to the conclusion that it was a partisan act is premature, especially when you have nothing to justify that conclusion.

If you’re gonna cry foul, cry foul for the right reason. Here, the right reason-that the breach even happened-is getting lost.

There’s no way out of this, D. Whoever did it, did so right after Iowa; right after the Potomac victories; right after the Wisconsin victory; and again, on March 14. This is more than just curiosity. It was information that someone sought to obtain for nefarious purposes.

That the information is “hot” is neither here nor there. It’ still fruit from a poisonous tree. The dirty deed itself is what’s gonna get somebody in trouble.

I realize you’re simply discharging your perceived duty to spin … but, jeez … can’t you do it without insulting the intelligence and intellect of the JJP community?

A breach of state department security protocol for (perceptively) political snooping is serious business. And if it’s demonstrated that this bit of espionage inures to a particular candidate–either Clinton or McCain–serious consequences may flow.

What’s really interesting is how quickly Obama’s campaign rushed to pin this on the Bush Administration…only to find out that it was contract employees who did it. Having been a contractor for the government before, there is an extremely clear distinction between the two.

This same thing happened to Clinton in/around 1992…and then, it was done by DoS officials.

I’m not going near DailyKos, but I’ll answer the first question: because whoever looked at Obama’s file wasn’t interested in Clinton’s/McCain’s. End of story.

and Kudos to JnJ. I’ve been over at Dem.Underground which is currently overrun with Republican Operatives… it’s a ZOO… of course even if they’re real Clintonites, you wouldn’t know it by their behavior.

The two fired “contractors” left while she was still right there. The third violator was STILL there when she “retired,” and has reportedly been “disciplined.”

My guess, nothing happens.

You are utterly uninformed. The story is that this was done and never investigated.

The inspector general should have investigated this breach immediately and Obama’s campaign should have also been notified immediately.

Also, Condolezia (sp?) Rice was informed yesterday; however, Obama wasn’t notified until today.

There are systems in place to guard against this and authorities are to be notified immediately.

This is such an issue, I wouldn’t be surprised if a congressional hearing isn’t held to find out 1) who breached, 2) why did the breach, and 3) why the appropriate procedures weren’t followed.

It was also the day of the Texas debate.
