For awhile, I was hoping Huckabee would get the nomination, precisely because he seems to be a reasonable, genuinely decent guy. And it would have been nice, for a change, to have a Republican presidential nominee who didn't actually hate his opponent.

But anyway, props to some Republicans being reasonable.

I saw this clip with Huckabee too. He did sound perfectly reasonable for once. :)

I think that people forget the context of how the black churches have evolved. When I was in undergrad, I had a professor talk about the black churches and how they really were the only outlet for blacks in the times of slavery and segregation. The mainstream media has neglected this history, and I don't expect that they will visit the context of Rev. Wright's comments beyond the youtubes.

I was quite shocked with Wallace and klime (sp). But good for them. I don't agree with Huckabee, but he has my respect for the way he carried himself and for speaking out for Rev. Wright. And Wallace, well he had a point (but we really know he wants that coveted Obama interview, lol).

"despite his scary demands for amending the Constitution"

When politicians demand that we change the Constitution, that is effectively saying that they are not going to do a thing. The Constitution is tough to amend, which is why it's been done so infrequently in its 200+ years. Saying "Let's change the Constitution" is an effective way to drum up donations and votes, but not much else. Which is why Huckabee's more outlandish statements never struck me as anything more than some red meat for his most devoted followers. I still like the guy, even though he did not get my vote in the IL primary.

_KXB

Curious about a couple of points, how does marriage affect anyone other than the two people in it, and, why is it necessary to amend the Constitution for it? This has nothing to do with the office of the President or Congress, due to the whims of some segments of society. McCain is for "states" rights on gay marriage, which, his state defeated, and, he is still whining about it being wrong. And, as far as Christians, what about the Jews, the Muslims and the atheist who are US citizens? The government needs to be run by people who keep their religious ideals private, since, not everyone is going to agree be, you a Catholic, a Baptist, Methodist or Episcopalian, and, fix the real issues of this country, and, stay out of folks bedrooms and in the church where they can be among those who are capable of judging and not of being judged for thier own many, many, many, shortcomings.

And, the one thing that bugs me moe than anything else, is the "preservation" of life, when there are hundreds of thousands of children languishing in poverty and foster homes, that none of the pro-life people seem to care about, or are willing to spend a penny in taxes to help.

What exactly is scary about Huckabee and The Constitution? "Demands?" He challenges America to amend The Constitution to make the protection of life more explicit, just like abolition made the protection of liberty more explicit.

Though I agree with preserving the definition of marriage, I disagree with amending The Constitution to do so. The federal government has no business defining marriage, and if they have the power to do it now, they will have the power to revise it, later.

If you are talking about the "raising The Constitution to God's standards" comment, remember that he was talking to Christian believers.

As scary as some of his ideas are/were, Huckabee is one of the few in the Republican party that is open and willing to discuss the huge racial divide in this country and that there is a need for healing, and, for that, I give him props, becausem one thing is for sure, you won't hear McCain say anything, and, the tag teaming Clinton's have made it quite clear where they stand.

And, I love how he put Joe right in his place and all those other who dismiss any black person who has a gripe about racism is wrong. And, who are the other two churls on Fox Noise?

Hey guys:

If you never go to another blog, please go here:

http://truthabouttrinity.blogspot.com/

After you read this blog and view the Wright sermon which is nine minutes long, please view the video of the soldiers on this page describing Iraq – the first one is enough – and your mind will be blown!

I wish someone could mix these two videos.

Wright speaks from the bible about retaliation and innocent lives lost, about a kind of terrorism in retaliation that hurts everyday innocent people (such as those who died on 9/11 and the Iraq civilians), he was referred to an Ambassador who described that America would fall victim to retaliation.

The soldier in the video speaks to the way innocent people were hurt in this war and how American military personnel was racist and hurtful to the people.

I AM FLOORED. PLEASE WATCH.

b-serious,

Thanks. It would be funny if after all this mindless talk about leaving churches where controversial things are said, it would be interesting to see if there's a mass exodus this Sunday.

Ha! That Chris Wallace one was great! Notice how they looked embarrassed like somebody caught them masturbating...well I guess they were.

It's amazing the subtle effect Obama is having on the media. As I type this, Cafferty is telling the rest of the panel he's tired of them talking about Florida and Michigan. The others are insisting Florida and Michigan MUST be included. Jack essentially says no they don't and lets move on...LOL

As for Huckabee, he's scared Americans will start poking around into what's said in churches on Sunday mornings...and start raising questions about tax exemption...If they only knew! Preachers better stick together.

WOW!?!?!????

I just got home and checked this out on Huffington Post. I can't believe it. I hope it's not some ploy. But if it isn't, I gotta give props where props is due.

Dude walked off the stage. And then you have Wallace defending Obama.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Obama's speech has long-term implications for this campaign. He's gonna survive this story. Yeah, he's dropped in the polls. But he didn't tank. He's a viable frontrunner who's gotta get back on message. He'll be just fine.

But Obama's speech did something important:

It's begun to marginalize the haters. John McCain, Chris Wallace, Mike Huckabee, the 700 Club, throw in another FOX NEWS anchor . . . it all shows how STUPID this Jeremiah Wright stuff is.

I'll say it again. Obama didn't speak to Democrats or Republicans; liberals or conservatives . . . he spoke to our better angels. We've all got them - INCLUDING some people at Fox News.

Unbelievable!
