Kwame needs to resign. Not because he was having an affair (that’s between him and his wife and the other woman; it’s not like he was buying prostitutes) …. but because he was stealing, he was embezzling from the city.

I don’t like this game he’s playing. It’s shameful.

Why would the mayor’s wife remain attached to him if her children are being subjected to threats? Does she truly believe they are at risk? Is she complicit in that risk by refusing to give up on her “investment” in a lucrative, political marriage?

Racists look for opportunities to use racial epithets; it’s not rocket science. Kilpatrick drew his family’s blood and now the sharks are circling. He refuses to do what’s necessary to close the wound. Whose fault is that?

I agree with you vrs. I am not for racism, but come on Mayor Kilpatrick . Black people everyday try to disprove stereotypes, and don’t want to be thought of as the n-word, but the actions of Kilpatrick and his mother don’t help. I am very sorry that his wife and sons have been the victims of racism , but they can partly blame Kilpatrick. I am tired of black public figures who do wrong and then CRY foul when they are criticized and get racial slurs thrown at them. Racism is wrong as well as many other things, but sometimes people can cause themselves to be the victim.

things are getting oh so ridiculous. there we have an embattled major who tries to ride the latest populistic wave to get off the hook, the usual white guys who didn’t get the point and/or are trying to ride that same wave crosswise to their own benefit, a newspaper that is so pc you can only use it for the wc…

hadn’t there been a serious campaign going on somewhere?

Of course it affects Obama..

There is a problem when the black community "anoints" a leader who doesn't deserve it.

Toni Morrison anointed Bill Clinton with blackness by suggesting he was being lynched; but, Bill Clinton was a sexual predator and deserved to be impeached! The community should have accepted Kwame's apology and then demanded he step down immediately.

Our poor choices always come back to haunt us. The Clinton's have returned to rob America and blacks specifically of real chance to heal via Obama. And Kwame has returned to sully Obama by falsely crying racism.

Barack needs to gain more white votes and if whites are fed up with this Kilpatrick affair, they may associate it with race and transfer that resentment to any AA.

So, here comes Kwame - with mange, fleas and all - to rub up against Obama who's wearing his Sunday best. If Kwame was concerned for his family, he wouldn't have done this in the first place. He also could step down which would stop the threats...and then he could always leave town if necessary.

Everybody who thinks that Kwame is just an “isolated” event should consider the effects of his actions on a possible Michigan PRIMARY Do-Over.

Could the Detroit electorate be so demoralized by the whole Kwame affair that the AA vote in Detroit is depressed??? If Obama underperforms in Detroit proper relative to the rest of the suburban/rural counties, the margins could be lopsided…something to consider.

Can you say, “bait and switch” or “bob and weave”? Way to go Kwame. Flip the script from you and your flaws and crimes to something so ambiguous, folks will forget why they’re mad at you. And by the time they do remember, either your term will be over, or you’ll come up with another smooth move to stay in the limelight. Is this how you’re managed to stay married? Poor wifey.

The fact that you equate a state of the city address with your personal issues shows the type of flawed thinking you have. Someone please get this fool off the stage. We have grown up issues to deal with.

Great Post! I’m really fascinated by the political posturing in Detroit, Michigan.

I consider myself politically astute, but what’s going on in Detroit has me dumbfounded. The strategies and tactics being employed by Kwame smell of desperation…but in the end, the tactics may succeed and i’m like, “WOW, let me take some notes.”
