And his music… I like it. His style (rap and production) is vibrant. And it is a relief not to hear a rap song about strippers, selling drugs, graphic sex, or a 2-step derived dance.

I know what it was like to lose my own mother, and yeah, her family lost their damned minds. So much to the point I had to cut them off for a few years. I just spoke to them last night and we’re all trying to make amends for crazy shyt we said and stuff we did when the loved one died.

So, although what he said was bat-shyt crazy, we might want to cut him a little slack – but not exactly give him a free pass, either.

I see his statement as this: he wants to be the person who goes beyond the normal stereotypes. To feed his ego, he has to portray himself as bigger than those stereotypes, but he has to play into them to be successful on both sides.

Is there anything really wrong with that? Is it any different from what most people have to do at work on any given day?

Besides, I don’t think he really said anything that wasn’t true. Take the “(black people) have no problem breaking (them)selves for what we want” comment. There’s some accuracy to that….

This is my basic idea as well. Between those comments and the entire Goldigger song, I was threw with him. I do not think is a that strong of advocate for black people because I don’t feel he is proud of being black.I cannot stand when he opens his mouth, I haven’t bought anything of his since his first album. I have good credit ( I know that there are black folks with good credit) what he should have spoke about was the disparity in how credit is established between blacks and whites. There is a systematic reason (as well as personal reasons) for why many whites have better credit than many blacks…he is so coonstastic I can’t even stand it…

Not that I value him as a musician, but he is not a bad performer [although lacks substance], and when you know he is not performing?

See, this is why one has to doubt his stability right now. I mean, come on. Does he not think that Black folks read something other than Vibe, KING, and Ebony? Come on. Did he think he could hide the interview from Black eyes?

I had sort of washed my hands of him when I read that disrespectful comment he made towards Black women last year.

NOw that episode was hilarious….Grandpa peddling ‘food crack’…..too funny for words. I loved Huey’s recounting of Soul Food..which left him wondering what the heck were they doing eating the food that made Big Mama sick in the first place? That episode was funny.

You can say that again. Kanye is (obviously) VERY insecure. He’s being blacker than thou, holding his audience back with a 10 foot pole even as he tells them things which will make them think he’s the exception, not the rule. There’s a reason why he said all this in a white magazine. Wonder what he would have said to a black one?

As for blacks have good food, whites have good credit — he has a point. I think that point needs to be addressed more often. Spin isn’t going to do it, they’ll leave it at ‘yeah, we do have good credit’. We’ll have to be the ones to rectify the situation.
