Petition short version:
We the under signed ask Marian Wright Edleman to show
her support for Barack Obama for president 2008. We
also would appreciate Marian explaining why her
husband resigned from Bill clintons cabinet and why on
July 24th when Marian Spoke to Amy Goodman at
democracynow.org she didn’t eleborate further in her
views of Hillary Clinton who proclaims to be the
candidate for childrens right.
The following are a few articles explaining in some
detail as to the clintons dealings with regards to
Marian Wright Edleman. (note: these articles can be

right of the page under “HILLARY ON THE ISSUES” click
“Supporting Parents and Caring for Children”. In the
second paragraph read…”From her first job out of law
school at the Children’s Defense Fund…”

Hillary is effectively associating herself with the
CDF without seeking actually saying she is and without
saying why Marian the individual citizen, her mentor
at CDF is not supporting her for the nomination. This
mention of the CDF by Hillary in this fashion does not
give the correct impression. Namely, that neither
Marian nor her husband, who resigned the Clinton
Administration in PROTEST, are at odds with the
Clinton’s in a most serious way. What is the nature
of that disagreement when the Clinton’s are giving the
impression that all is well with her relationship with
the CDF. This is SO a typically Clinton (not quite
honest) maneuver. Marian has a Christian and
Citizenship duty to correct that false impression. To
share the truth with the Democrats and the American
people BEFORE they nominate another Clinton to the
important job of President of the United States at
this critical point in our Nation’s history.

She was asked if children should be taught about masturbation and she responded that the idea of teaching about masturbation could and should be discussed.

Mr. Turner – now that we have the benefit of living under “Welfare Reform as we know it” – could you SUBSTANTIATE the hysterical cries of Mrs. Edelman? We should have “poor single women and their kids” banging on our doors seeking nutrition.

I am puzzled why your perspective is never brought face to face with the REALITIES of the PAST POLICIES? (You know -”When we Blacks were kings – living in the ghetto with our welfare – no worries coming our way”.)

Recently the progressive Jesse Jackson was in town to protest the closure of a housing project that would have the poor people scattered among “mixed income” communities. He and his organization fought to keep the place open and intact. Why is it that the progressive advocate is never held accountable for the actual results of their policies? And YES I am using this one example with Jesse Jackson to extrapolate the general ideological sentiments of you and Mrs. Edelman.

Underpaid Jobs?????
Mr. Tuner – these jobs are “underpaid” with respect to WHAT? The VALUE that the unit of labor expresses to the OWNER?
What then should these people be paid with respect to? “Their societal needs” regardless of the actual value of their work?

Let me tell you Mr. Turner – I am a Black man who does indeed work a “living wage job”. My living wage job insures that my children are housed, fed and clothed. How is it that you take such liberty as to ABSTRACT the DOLLAR VALUE of one’s unit of labor from that which appears in their paycheck?

I can just image you taking your significant other out to a high end steakhouse and you ordering a $36 cut of prime rib. When you get your plate you find that you actually have a $6 hamburger with fries. After the manager calms you down me makes note that he has taken the liberties to ABSTRACT the value of the piece of meat that sits on your plate from that which you will eventually PAY.

When you learn to RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY then you will begin to ask those who seek a “living waged job” to actually bring skills to the table that match their salary demands. (Or you could make every job a government job and set the income among based on need rather than utility – as so many others have done but failed.)

I’m not asking for someone to step in and “work” the system, but I would definitely prefer someone who has substantial experience with it that a person who hasn’t even finished his first term in it.

True, experience can be a liability (see Hillary). With the challenges facing this country, it becomes something we need now more than ever.

at worst, you repeat your mistakes.

as for learning the presidency on the job, everyone has to do that unless you’re in your second term.

and things are so jacked up in terms of the system, i’m not sure how valuable it is to have someone who knows how to work it. i’d prefer someone who changes it.

america faces massive challenges. no one can walk it and just get it done. and let’s not overestimate our historical uniqueness. how much experience did JFK or George Washington have? were they not faced with challenges.

Do you trust someone who goes along with Republicans to prove that she’s tough? We have a president who overcompensates for a lack of intelligence by trying to be “tough,” yet he has weakened this country’s global stature unlike any president since the founding of the republic. Pre-emptive Wars and the USA do not match.

Hillary supported a pre-emptive war with scant evidence. But I really don’t care about her vote as much as I care about her sense of judgment…and to keep-it-simple, I don’t trust her judgment.

If you listen carefully, you’ll know that she wants to continue polarizing, “I’ve dealt with this for the last 35 year! I can give it as good as i get it!”

Hillary’s not open to the reality that People want to move beyond the same-ole junk.

I want a leader who contemplates the issues, LISTENs to DISSENT, and works effectively to BRIDGE THE GAPS…and not sell their souls doing it. I trust Barack Obama’s judgment and sincerely believe he will work for America’s (Not Just Black America’s) Best Interest.

Hillary sold her soul 2 the republicans on too many occasions (IRAQ WAR being #1). If we entrust her with the presidency, do you seriously believe that she would be TRANSPARENT. Her nature is to be secretive and non-revealing (HEALTHCARE ’93=Big Failure).

Experience is meaningless if all you’ve ever done if Fk’up.

The Clintons are comprimising triangulators who threw (and will throw) the African-American community under the bus for welfare reform, affirmative action (MEND it, don’t end it), and capital punishment (Bill Clinton supports it).

There’s been much suffering at the hands of BUSH, and Hillary loves to say, “I can lead from Day One, I’ve got Experience” but the real question should be, “Can YOU cure the polarization that paralyzes our country’s future???”

There is precious, scant time to resolve so many problems and we can’t afford to see the country engaged in scandals that the Clintons proved they could not avoid. The Republicans are ready to stir up mess from the slightest indiscretions.

We do not need to be distracted by Clintonian-Soap Operas while millions lack healthcare and stem-cell research is stymied.

The NEXT President MUST cure the polarization.

The Republicans are orgasmic over Hillary getting the nomination. We all know the reason why…We need change, a real change and more importantly, we need to break the cycle of Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton.

America deserves better. America needs real change. America needs Obama.

Good start to what I’m sure will be an interesting series. Is there a “Why I Support Obama” in the works as well?
