And I also saw Michelle’s whole interview. I won’t go as far as to call her “uppity” yet, but I’m sure there’s more comments like that to come…which might qualify her for “uppity” status.

that’s because people are only absorbing the soundbite and not the long form interview. people who have seen the interview don’t come away with the notion that she was being patronizing, but quite the opposite.

i’m just glad i haven’t seen anybody call her uppity.

For Obama, the answer’s simple: he doesn’t have much else to stand on.

Do any of you really don’t understand why our spokesmen are defanged media creations as Jackson or Sharpton, because anyone wielding greater power in our communities would be neutralized, physically or otherwise?

Those white power groups who find succor in Ron Paul’s, Giuliani’s, White House rhetoric, they’re just all in our mind? That they wouldn’t turn their poisonous rhetoric from illegal immigrants to Obama, should he win the nomination? I’m far less worried about Mrs. Obama being accused of making up community paranoia, than all of us assuming that paranoia does not have a basis in fact.

So accurate, in fact, that I am taking my scared, black butt off the fence and plumping it down squarely in Obama’s camp.

I’ve kind of been going along thinking that Obama is the best candidate. Saying that if he were white, there would be no question that he will be our next President. Even, privately telling myself that I’d probably vote for him in the Primary. But, I’ve been preparing myself to get behind someone else in the end – and I’m not sure that’s Hillary (though she would be my second choice).

My biggest fear is another Republican President. I am fearful beyond belief that were Obama or Clinton to win the Democratic nomination that the Republican candidate would win.

But, fear is a bad place to live in. It’s a bad way to make choices and decisions. And reading Michelle Obama’s comments makes me realize that. So fear be damned. I’m voting for Obama and I’m going to believe he’ll win because he’s the best choice all of us have.

If black folks don’t come out to support this man, then WE send a message that WE are not ready for a black president. What kind of message is that? This “fear” needs to cease. We have been through a lot worse.
