I am glad to hear about this, I think it's the right thing to do and I am only expecting positive results from this. I wonder why it took them so long to reach this decision…

I still don't understand why all this disparity… crack cocaine is a drug just like cocaine, what exactly are these punishments based on? Anyways I am glad to hear the new, less time in prison means more time in society and higher chances of reintegration.

Those who would be eligible for sentence reductions were convicted in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, which has jurisdiction over Northern Virginia and the Richmond area, according to an analysis done by the commission. Nearly 280 inmates convicted in federal courts in Maryland would be eligible, as well as almost 270 prisoners found guilty in the District of Columbia.

Changing sentencing guidelines… the debate over execution by lethal injection… water-boarding… it’s beginning to feel like America is starting to wake up from its fantasy that we can lock up, kill or torture our way to safety from all the bad people lurking in our midst.
