I am not sure why the idea of racism only existing in the South is so prevalent. I have found people far more intolerant in the Northeast including Harlem where I lived for 4 years. Nursing education professor Kathleen O'Connell is quote as saying: "She's a very productive faculty member, so that's just nuts." Um... so if she didn't publish and wasn't productive, hanging a noose would be ok? I also love this quote from a Newsday article.
