So what do you REALLY think about Jesse, huh? Don't be shy.

Seriously, the old guy has his faults and problems and bad history, but I want to suggest the criticism is a little misplaced. Do please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall him ever going after Obama for "lack of authenticity", as you seem to suggest.

In fact, I can rarely recall him attacking anybody else black, with the exception of clear right wingers like Clarence Thomas, Armstrong Williams and Ken Blackwell. Giving advice, even unasked for, is not an attack.

And just to try on an alternative explanation for his remark that he would have been "all over" Jena --- a lot more so that Obama --- maybe, just maybe he meant that he would have used the occasion to point a lot more specifically and directly to the problem of the criminalization of black youth by authorities who look for any half-plausible excuse to throw away the keys on huge numbers of black youth. Say what you will about Jesse's baby mama drama and all, these are useful things, teaching moments that HE might reasonably try to turn the discussions of Jena to, instead of Obama's bland statements that nooses in a tree mean there is still a lot of work to be done.

One of the reasons the Jena thing strikes so deep among black youth is the focus on disproportionate punishment and imprisonment. Jesse will, on occasion touch these issues. Barack will not. Not with somebody else's ten foot pole.

I'm only asking because the last time I checked, Obama didn't father any crumb-snatchers with a woman other than his wife.If attacking Barack Obama is how you show that you're "all over" Jena, I'd rather you stayed away from tomorrow's protest. Instead, just make sure you're "all over" those child support payments.
