fafnir, bruce definitely understands the economic migrant position many immigrants are in and was in no way suggesting that we do mass deportation

he was acknowledging the far right demand for deportations, not advocating it himself.

Although I enjoy listening to Mr. Dixon's perspectives, I felt he was being disingenuous to suggest that Clinton pushed NAFTA through without the gleeful support of the Mexican oligarchs and the Canadian elite. Yes, Clinton and the Democrats do deserve their share of the blame, but let's not forget about the role played by their North American counterparts.

As a result, NAFTA's winners have been transnational investors, corporations, Canadian workers, and local American businesses. Its losers, not surprisingly, are less-educated Mexican workers, low-wage and working-class Americans.

Illegals, wherever they come from, are economic migrants. They are here for the jobs and not for the view.

Cracking down on illegal employers who hire illegal workers will slowly turn off the jobs magnet, and open up opportunities for equitable employment and decent pay for legal workers who simply want a chance to fulfill their goals and dreams. Without jobs, illegals will return home over time. There is no need, as Mr. Dixon suggests, for the U.S. to contemplate deporting 12 to 20 million illegals.

You don't agree that the governmental actions he talked about brought about the surge in illegal immigration?
