I couldn’t agree more with your assessment…Obama has experience working in urban areas and his political background gives him the leadership skills. It’s bizarre to watch the mainstream press try to put him in a box.

That was a really informative post. Well, the media irritates the heck out of me. They are going to do it again, and again, and again. Very disappointing.

His speech was not about looming riots. The urban agenda he put forth seems very progressive and well thought. However, he detracted from his own message by invoking the riots too much. It’s no different than fearmongering about terrorism by conservatives. Let’s call the game fair. It was his own fault. And what’s with the more pronounced drawl when talking to us? I don’t like to be condescended to, whether it is in his manner of speech or using the L.A. riots which destroyed whole communities in order to campaign on a sensitive issue to whites and blacks.

interestingly, the only person who i've heard hit this dilemma on the head is jon stewart on the daily show.

the corporations of media have almost dared the black people who can do something about it, to say something!

what's worse, the cats who did cover the speech labeled it and obama as some sort of cannon for the 'silent impending black riots'. wtf.

while i know we are all divided on what candidate is the best, i almost feel like educated black folks need to pull a 'GOP, year 2000' and just vote for our guy....because in the end, he'll at least, AT LEAST, force these issues into a back-alley speech....even if john boy and his crew decide to cover the next chapter in paris hilton that day.

who knows....obama may even mean it....
