As to how Black folks will receive Michelle Obama, one need only look at the marriage rate in the Black community as well as the larger society. Can Michelle Obama truly be appreciated … anywhere?

I don’t know…I think Black women will receive her well. I believe that Black women WANT to be married. I think they will respect them having sustained such a long marriage, and that she’s had her own professional life every minute she’s been married – that she’s had her ‘ own thing’. I think their marriage is something to respect, because we all know marriage isn’t easy.

That said, if Black women can’t receive Michelle Obama well, then we are truly lost as a people.
