Jill, Fox News is a disreputable and racist organization, no doubt about that. But Cathy Hughes, Radio One, TV1 and that crowd are not on our side either, not at all. I think we have to be careful not to fall into the trap of uncritically praising black businesses whether or not they benefit any black people beyond the handful of execs, shareholders and employees concerned.

Cathy Hughes has amassed a radio empire that does the same things in black radio that Clear Channel does in white radio --- eliminate local news departments, treat us to a standardized "musical" diet of corporate pap, a lot of stations formatted to sound exactly like BET only without the video.

I'd like to say more about this later, or maybe Glen Ford, who has a very long and deep background in black radio will --- but I gotta git out and pick some cotton just now.

Fox goes into more homes than TVOne. If TVOne went into the same number of homes as BET, I'd be all for it.

I just don't know why they don't go to PBS.

And, is this a territorial thing, Ms. Tubman?

Is this a separate debate from the one that Tavis spoke of at the State of the Black Union?

If so...do you think it's about territorial issues and the CBC doesn't want to be ' shown up' as inept?
