AAPP is right, and as I alluded to on a comment to his blog, which he was so gracious to post, I think the problem is endemic (is that the word…i don’t know it’s five in the morning and i have a take home exam for one of my law classes due in about five hours) of the narrow and insular worldview possessed by too many progressives. It’s similar to white flight–talking about inclusiveness but not living it.

There should be an overwhelming progressive movement across all types of people in the coming years. But I’m pessimistic it’s going to happen because of that aforementioned worldview and because the trend is currently in place. The trend, that is, of having a Republicans and Corporatist Centrist Democrats cycling in and out of power as the number of healthcare, and debt ridden, and low wage earners, etc. balloons.

Maybe a good President will be elected (Obama?) and healthcare and a lot of those other issues addressed. But I have little hope that the trend will reverse.

Back to the blogosphere. Other than the prepackaged blogs like Kos, the blogosphere is not a united place. But it’s crucial that we unite–and with the openmindedness to accept all viewpoints. Our futures really are intertwined. Hopefully through our continued efforts it will grow.

As you said, the demographics of our country are changing rapidly. There is a great potential to create a solid base of power for liberals and black progressives if we tap and expand traditional alliances among minorities, liberals, labor and spiritual communities. Yes, Jill the stakes are high!

As you also said, we need to bridge the divide and figure out how to get on the same page.

Let’s see if the left bloggers move to the discussion stage like they all ask George Bush to do, or will do as George W. Bush and stay the course.

Time is of the essence –

As the demographics of our country rapidly change, there may be a time in the not so distant future when a number of left bloggers will need to come knocking on progressive black bloggers doors. Judging from the dialogue in recent days many like DailyKos, just may be… ignored.
