I'll step in it again.

Having been locked out for so long, Black Men, IMO, want to prove that they can 'Play The Game' as well as the White ones in Congress. I definitely think it's a male thing, this ' Game' part.

Black Women, on the other hand, don't see it as a Game. They see it as LIFE. And don't have time for foolishness. They know the foot is on the necks of their constituencies.

What's your theory? Why are the female CBC members reliably progressive and the men aren't?

Oh Boy, I feel like I'm going to step in it answering this question.

1. While the 'leaders' of the 'movement' have been men, most of the foot soldiers have been women.

2. Not many women are looking for higher office. Not many women have their eyes on 'moving on'. Not that the Sisters aren't ambitious; it's just that they won't sell their principles to get there and call it being ' enlightened'.

3. Women, quite frankly, CATCH HELL.

Black Women, are on the front lines of every bad thing that happens in the community.

THEY are the ones left holding the bag, so they feel the effects of practically every political choice out there.

It is their sons being imprisoned.
It is their sons being shot by the police.
It is their children that they have to fight for an education.
It is THE WOMEN who are the new face of AIDS
It is THE WOMEN who are at the lowest end, hanging in there, trying to hold the community together while the men do ' whatever'.

The women in Congress know that. The men believe they are 'enlightened'.
