I get that the CBC should remain in the hands of elected officials who are, in fact, black. <br/><br/>As a so-called "white" or Euro-American, I don't feel "oppressed" either by the existence of ethnic caucuses nor feel the need to have one to protect my rights. Didn't feel that way when I was in a statistical minority in Baltimore City, don't feel it now. If anything, any group that is organized according to "whiteness" is likely to be 100% opposed to my interests and political goals. There is no "white identity" of any substance other than for the perpetuation of racism itself. That's why Irish bars are positive places with Irish and non-Irish customers, Italian restaurants likewise, Polish Catholic parishes likewise, Jewish delis likewise, but "white pride" meetings are filled with violent sociopathic losers.<br/><br/>If some black folks organize successfully to deprive me of or to suppress my right to vote, hold property, attend school, get a job, get a house, get a loan or drive at night without harassment on account of my German-Irish ancestry, well, I will reconsider if that happens.
