S. in Korea during the Korean War. I am a psychiatrist and have held the highest professorial academic appointments in major universities and I am black.&lt;br&gt;When the smartest black politician in America who has been elected to the presidency feels it necessary to apologize to a policeman who arrested a disabled black professor in the professor’s own home I cannot depend on that president advocating on my behalf should a policeman abuse his position and wrongfully arrest me.&lt;br&gt;When the president acts as if Prof Gates should have shuffled and apologized for being in his own house and when he acts as if the policeman must be accorded respect at all times and when he acts as if it is nigh onto criminal to berate a policeman (if one is black) then I need to look for an advocate…the president is too feeble to help me.&lt;br&gt;People will say that I don’t know all the facts…and that is true…but I know how policemen have treated four beloved generations of men and women of my family…and I know how they have treated me and my gentle sons and how we are pondering how to teach my 14 year old grandson what to say when stopped by a white policeman.&lt;br&gt;Apparently President Obama must be careful to avoid offending white policemen and their supporters...he is a clever and subtle politician…I just want to know who to call if a white policeman abuses his authority and jails me… I am old and black and disabled and I may need help sometime.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;William H.
